The Introduction in Frankenstein

Read the Introduction that is in the books at the back of the classroom. It is written by Mary Shelley for the 1831 edition of the novel. You will find it after the “Note on the Text”. After reading it through, write a blog post answering the following questions (you should be able to write about a paragraph per question):

  • What does Shelley say about the novel’s origins?
  • What parallels can be drawn between the ‘birth’ of a monster and the ‘birth’ of Shelley’s novel?
